Best TV Mounts for flat screen TV’s

One of my most frequent job requests as a Handyman is mounting TV’s on walls. Using the right TV mount can make all the difference in the world. There are a few different mounts to hang TV’s; flat mount, full motion mount, corner mount, and TV specific mounts. Depending on where you are going to place your TV there maybe a few things to think about when selecting a location. Having a plug near or directly below on the wall will help tremendously if you plan on hiding the cords after installing the TV on the wall.

Flat mounts are great for having TV’s mostly flush with the wall. They are the lightest and thinest version of a TV mount you can buy and are very easy to setup and install. Most of them have a couple different settings that allow you to adjust the TV to lean or keep flat. There are a few challenges with these mounts since they are near flat. Some things to consider before getting a flat mount is the location of where the wires and cords come out of the tv and what things might you need to place behind the TV such as cable boxes and power cables.

Corner Mounts are the preferred mounts for putting your TV in a corner. They either have one or two arms to support a TV and they work great for both inside corners and edge corners to be mounted on. Obviously the more mounting points the stronger the hold but there is going to be a little bit of a struggle when you go to install it if you are alone.

Specific TV Mounts are mounts that normally either come with the TV or an additional accessory for a specific model type. These mounts often make the tv more aesthetically pleasing by being able to fit flush on the wall such as The Frame TV by Samsung. Each one of these mounts can vary one to another. Always be sure the size of the TV fits the TV you intend to mount. Other accessories sold by the TV manufacturer can change the style of the TV as well as to look like a picture and can be left on for long periods of time.

Full-Motion TV Mount – My preference of mount for most all TVs are full-motion mounts. Full motion mounts typically can be installed in almost any location and many of them are slim enough that they hide their distance off the wall. There are many benefits to using a full-motion mount over the other types. They provide a large range of viewing options from flush on the wall to tilted up or down and side to side. They also allow you easy access to the connections on the back and the arms also provide an easy location to connect cable boxes and other accessories. They also make it so you can add led lights to the back to create a tv backlight for style. To install this type of mount you put the back plate up first and then connect the arms to the wall plate and then install the TV plate to the TV and then connect them all together. The one in the image also allows for adjustment to perfect center which means the plate can slide right or left to find the perfect center for the room with only a few minor adjustments.
